Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a packing service?
Yes. We offer a full packing service where we come to your property prior to moving day, equipped with any materials required (boxes, tape, bubble wrap etc.) and carefully pack all of your belongings fit for transportation. This is a great way to be prepared on the day and saves you one big, daunting job! Our packing service is charged at £28 per hour, any materials used are charged additionally.
What size are your removals boxes?
We currently have one size box on offer. It measures 60cm x 60cm x 40cm.
How many people will be there on the day?
Our standard home removals team is a minimum of 2 men, but this depends entirely on the scale of your move. We always ensure we have enough hands on deck to get the job completed in a timely fashion.
Will you take my things to my room of choice?
Yes. Providing access is clear we will always aim to put items into their new rooms. It would be very helpful if you label your items, so there's minimal disruption to yourself.
What time do you start?
When ever you like! Our standard start time is 7am, but we are flexible to work around your needs. We are happy to undertake 'twilight' moves, too, to save you taking time off work.
What if my completion date changes?
It happens all the time! But no worries, there is not much you or we can do about it. The only thing you can do, is keep us in the loop and give as much notice as possible. We cannot guarantee we will be able to move you on your new date, but we can promise we will do our best to accommodate to the new circumstances.
Do I need to defrost my fridge and freezer?
Yes. This is for 2 reasons. A) It makes the unit more hazardous to lift and transport. B) If there is any hold up during your move, such as traffic or a delay in getting the keys, your food is likely to defrost and water could leak into the removals vehicle.
Do I need to empty my drawers?
If it is a large, heavy unit, we would recommend emptying the drawers. You should always remove fragile items from units, and protect them accordingly.
Will my items be protected in the removals van?
Yes. We come equipped with plenty of removals blankets and interior fittings, to ensure you items do not move around during the journey, or become knocked, damaged or scratched.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We have an extensive public liability policy, alongside Goods In Transit insurance for all aspects of removals and courier work.
What if I have more items than I told you about?
This tends to happen a lot, as it's easy to forget about every little thing that you need moving. Some companies will heavily charge for these additions, but we will only impose an extra charge if we need to make another trip. We do our best to make you aware of this charge when quoted so there are no nasty surprises on the day.
Do you charge a key waiting fee?
Yes. If the keys to your new property are delayed anymore than 1 hour, we charge £30 per hour waiting fee.
Do I need to dismantle my furniture?
If an item cannot get through doorways it will need to be dismantled. If you can do this prior to moving day, that would be fantastic. If you're short on tools, time, or even patience, we do offer a dismantling service where we come and take the job off your hands.
Can you dispose of furniture I no longer need?
Yes. We are happy to take old furniture off your hands or drop it off at a local charity shop. Additional costs may be incurred depending on the nature of the goods.
Why don't you list your prices online?
Our prices are tailored exactly according to your needs, to ensure you always pay a fair and accurate price. With so many variables involved in the moving process, putting our prices into one standardised list simply doesn't work for our business or clients
How far in advance do I need to book Waters Transport?
As soon as possible. Lots of people get in touch to chat to us about their move before they even have a date - this is great! The more notice we have, the more likely we will have space in our diary to accommodate your move.
How long will the removals service take?
This depends upon the scale of your move, the access, the amount of furniture you have, and the type of furniture you have - so it's difficult to give a straight answer. If you speak with us regarding your personal situation, we will be able to give you a better idea.
Will you visit me at home to do a quote?
Yes! We love coming out and meeting our clients. For clients based in Staffordshire, we like to do an in-house quote. If you'd rather speak with us online or over the phone, that is not a problem.
How do I pay?
We accept cash payments on the day or bank transfer. You may be asked to pay a deposit to secure your moving date during busy periods.
I'm worried about access to the property on the day, what should I do?
Speak with us! Together, we'll be able to come up with a solution. We may ask to come out to the property to assess the access for ourselves, or request pictures to be sent.
Can you store my items?
Yes. We have a secure storage facility fit for housing all of your home and business belongings. There is no minimum stay period, so you can store with us for 1 week or 1 year. For a free storage quote, get in touch with us!
How do I pay for storage?
